What Level.io Is And Who Builds It

The architectural decision worth knowing about is the remote access path. Level builds encrypted peer to peer connections between the technician and the endpoint rather than relaying every session through vendor infrastructure. If you're managing a design agency running mostly MacBooks, or a client with a rack of Linux servers, you're not dropping to a second tool to cover them.

Third is the automation library and the public API. Level ships prebuilt automations you can adopt rather than author from scratch, and the Public API is a proper REST interface with resource-oriented URLs, JSON responses and standard HTTP status codes, paired with webhooks for real-time events. For a shop that wants to push device data into its own reporting or trigger workflows from an external system, that's the difference between an integration project and a weekend.

Monitoring and inventory round out the core. Level collects hardware and software inventory across the fleet and exposes it alongside the alerting layer, so device data and the automations that act on it live in the same place rather than in a reporting tool you export to. The alerting model leans on the same actions framework the automations use, which keeps the mental model consistent: a monitor that detects a condition and an automation that fixes it are built from the same parts. Technicians who have maintained a separate monitoring product alongside an RMM will recognize how much overhead that removes.

Documented integrations cover HaloPSA, ConnectWise PSA, Hudu, Deskday and ilert. It's a focused list rather than a marketplace of hundreds, which is a reasonable trade at this company size, but check that your PSA and documentation tools are on it before you commit. One of those is more useful than it looks: ilert covers alerting and on-call scheduling, which is the practical workaround for the missing technician mobile app. Route the alert to a tool built for phones rather than waiting for one inside the RMM.

Patch Management: What Level.io Really Does

This is where several published reviews get it wrong, in both directions. Some list third-party patching as a roadmap item that doesn't exist yet. Others describe it as equivalent to NinjaOne's. Neither is right.

Winget-driven patching means your coverage is as good as the Winget repository's coverage and packaging quality for the specific applications your clients run. For mainstream software that's a distinction without much consequence. For a client running vertical-market or older line-of-business applications, it's the thing that decides whether patching is automated or manual.

The evaluation step is concrete. Take your actual third-party application inventory across your largest three clients, check each one against Winget, and count what's missing. That number is your real patching gap, and it's specific to your book of business rather than to any review.

The Gaps You Need To Budget For

The headline gap is PSA. Level has no native ticketing, time tracking or billing, and it isn't pretending otherwise. For an MSP, that means a second contract with HaloPSA, ConnectWise PSA or an equivalent, and the per-technician cost of that platform sits on top of your per-endpoint Level spend. For an internal IT team that already runs ITSM elsewhere, this is a non-issue and arguably an advantage.

The second gap is mobile. There's no dedicated iOS or Android technician app, which is a recurring complaint from teams who take on-call rotations seriously. Browser access on a phone is not the same as a purpose-built mobile console when you're triaging an alert from a car park.

The third consideration is scale. Level's design assumptions favor lean teams who write their own automations. If you need deep multi-tier permission models, complex client-facing reporting suites or the kind of enterprise change control a 15,000-endpoint operation demands, you'll be filling gaps rather than using the platform as intended.

Review coverage is still thin, which cuts both ways. Level's G2 profile and Capterra listing carry the bulk of practitioner feedback, while the Trustpilot page holds only a couple of reviews as of August 2026. Treat aggregate scores from a small sample with appropriate caution and weight the r/msp threads and your own trial more heavily.

Per-endpoint headline rates hide the real number, so build the stack cost properly. Take a five-technician MSP running 1,200 endpoints:
